Representative Paul Gosar Promotes White Nationalist Nick Fuentes - Again
So much for distancing himself from Nick Fuentes. On Friday (2022-09-30), Representative Paul Gosar [Wikipedia: Paul Gosar] promoted a film about Nick Fuentes portraying the white nationalist and Christian fascist as the "most canceled mancancel culture in America." "The persecution against Christians and Conservatives by the Biden Regime [Biden administration] brings great dishonor to our country," Paul Gosar wrote on Twitter, sharing a trailer for the film. "If Americans do not have the freedom to dissent, then they have no freedom at all."
Paul Gosar has rubbed soldiers with the 24-year-old Nick Fuentes since he came onto the political scene, notably appearing at Nick Fuentes' America First Political Action Conference (AFPAC) in 2021-02, and meeting with the white nationalist the following day (2021-02). Prior to that, both Paul Gosar and Nick Fuentes were heavily involved in the so-called "Stop the Steal" campaign, which sought to overturn the 2020 United States presidential election and keep former President Donald Trump in power [Attempts to overturn the 2020 United States presidential election]. Paul Gosar preemptively sought a pardon from Trump for his role in the 2021-01-06 insurrection at the U.S. Capitol but did not receive one, while Nick Fuentes has been subpoenaed by the House select committee investigating the U.S. Capitol attack [ (2021-01-06) | United States House Select Committee on the January 6 Attack].
In 2021-04 following Nick Fuentes' his harassment of airline employees, Paul Gosar's participation in the so-called "Stop the Steal" campaign, and appearance at the U.S. Capitol on 2021-01-06 - not to mention Nick Fuentes' threat to lawmakers who certified Joe Biden's win - Nick Fuentes was placed on a no-fly list. Nick Fuentes found an ally in Paul Gosar. The Arizona congressman defended Nick Fuentes, writing a letter to the United States Federal Bureau of Investigation accusing the FBI of abusing its power. Nick Fuentes, in turn, applauded the congressman (Paul Gosar). "There is some hope, maybe, for America First in United States Congress," Nick Fuentes said on a 2022-05 episode of his America First podcast. "And that is thanks to - almost exclusively - to Representative Paul Gosar."
Since Paul Gosar lent legitimacy to the young extremist with his initial appearance at AFPAC, America First's ranks have swelled. When Paul Gosar appeared by video at the 2022 AFPAC conference, he was joined by other far-right politicians - including fellow House Republican Marjorie Taylor Greene and Arizona state Representative Wendy Rogers. A few months later (2022-04), Paul Gosar expressed frustration with Nick Fuentes, stating, "I've given up ... on dealing with Nick. Nick's got a problem with his mouth." Paul Gosar also claimed he didn't mean for his taped remarks to appear at the AFPAC conference, and that he didn't know about Nick Fuentes' "divisive" background before his initial appearance in 2021. But with today (2022-09-30)'s tweet, it appears now that all is well between the congressman and misogynist white nationalist. Unless, of course, it was just another misunderstanding.
